The Pilgrimage

It is 1381. King Richard II is on the throne. It is time to go on a pilgrimage to thank God for sparing your life during the Black Death. While the children prepare for their voyage, they could meet:

  • The Archer – warfare: practice skills for protection on the way.
  • The Baker/Cook - lives in the peasantry: make medieval bread and prepare food for the pilgrimage.
  • The Monk/Nun - find out about medieval religion: make effigies and tokens.
  • The Herbalist - herbs for healing and superstitions: prepare the traveller’s first aid kit.

After lunch we visit the Medieval Church within the grounds and look at the Architecture and Contents.

This project covers various aspects of the National Curriculum KS3.
